Ethmoid roof radiology; analysis of lateral lamella of cribriform plate.
OBJECTIVE We evaluated the extent of asymmetry evident in paranasal sinus computed tomography (CT) scans of Turkish patients without sinusitis in the ethmoid roof. Our data contribute to the body of knowledge on the subject. MATERIALS AND METHODS We retrospectively studied multiplanar reformatted CT images of the paranasal sinus (1-mm sections) from 110 patients (50 male, 60 female). Ethmoid ...

OBJECTIVE To describe a quantitative analysis of the lateral lamella of the cribriform plate (LLCP) height in computed tomographic (CT) images. The LLCP is the thinnest anatomic structure in the skull base. DESIGN Software-enabled CT scan measurements. SETTING Academic center. RESULTS The CT scans from 50 patients were analyzed. The median height of the LLCP in 100 sides was 2.4 mm. The L...
متن کاملUnusual initial development of an esthesioneuroblastoma above the cribriform plate.
Esthesioneuroblastoma is a rare tumor localized in the superior part of the nasal cavity. Extension in the anterior cerebral fossa is sometimes observed. As we discovered in our patient, the location of the tumor above the cribriform plate was very unusual and meningioma was suspected. Features and prognosis are discussed below.
متن کاملQuantification of cerebrospinal fluid transport across the cribriform plate into lymphatics in rats.
A major pathway by which cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) is removed from the cranium is transport through the cribriform plate in association with the olfactory nerves. CSF is then absorbed into lymphatics located in the submucosa of the olfactory epithelium (olfactory turbinates). In an attempt to provide a quantitative measure of this transport, 125I-human serum albumin (HSA) was injected into the ...
متن کاملThe Olfactory Groove Schwannoma Attached to the Cribriform Plate: A Case Report
The olfactory groove schwannoma is a quite rare tumor. We report a case of a 49-year-old woman with an olfactory groove schwannoma attached to the cribriform plate without olfactory dysfunction. She had no specific neurological symptoms other than a headache, and resection of the tumor showed it to be a schwannoma. About 19 months after the operation, a follow-up MRI showed no evidence of tumor...
